I am back! I’ve touched down on Australian soil after four years of living in Malaysia. To make it even more special, I am spending time at the place where it all began, the property were I grew up. Yes! Soaking up the Australian Summer, breathing in warm sweet blue sky and crunching dry bark under my feet. Surrounded by the familiar sounds of the many birds.
In the mornings I’m greeted by the kangaroos, in the afternoons I spot a koala in the gum tree, and the stumpy tail lizards remind me of times long ago. This is surreal, a stark contrast to the enveloping humidity of Kuala Lumpur. The spaciousness opens my heart and I feel so fortunate to […]
Here is my latest work! This is the first in a new body of works combing flat thin paint with thick 3D textured amoebas.
When the sun is bleak and the heart is heavy it’s time to do something you normally wouldn’t do…and that’s paint with acrylic paint with your left hand.
I come from a family where natural fibres are considered far superior to anything produced in a factory or laboratory. So I remember being quite challenged by the name “acrylic” at Art School. Why would anyone want to use acrylic paint, I thought as I slopped the irky mix onto my portrait number sixty five. Why would anyone use this paint for anything but practice or fun? It’s not a serious medium..ahmm..Hence my ascension into oil paint and my love of everything oil.

It’s just an experiment but already I am envisioning large canvases with bean shapes and more floating amoebas. For some reason I keep returning to this suspended world, it feels like outer space or under water, slow and constant, womb like.
Applying thick and thin paint will bring added three dimension. The deeper ruby magenta squares are turning emerald. I’m excited to see what eventuates!
“Lane […]

I have just been featured on the Manhattan Arts site in New York!
At last! I have a central location for showing my paintings. Over many years I have been blessed with people from all around the world being drawn to my exhibitions and works.
My new website is a wonderful archive for the public, collectors, and myself to view this broad body of selected Kari Bienert paintings. I’m so happy I now have the opportunity to share this.
Although making this possible hasn’t been without its challenges…
After forgetting to renew my domain name some time ago, a business opportunist claimed “karibienert.com” and wanted $10,000 for it!!!! Bla!!! Lesson learnt……Years later (after refusing to pay 10k) ‘they’ did not renew the domain and I got it back for free! ……….Crazy Stuff!
Putting the site together, I […]
